On October 6, 2021, SWF Director of Program Planning Dr. Brian Weeden participated in a panel discussion on "Security in LEO: Can The US Government Trust it?" that was part of the 2021 CybersatGov Conference, held October 5-7 in Reston, VA. Dr. Weeden's panel focused on the potential cyber security vulnerabilities of large LEO constellations and potential mitigation solutions. Dr. Weeden discussed current U.S. government policy efforts, such as Space Policy Directive 5 from the Trump Administration, international initiatives such as the discussions on norms of behavior within the United Nations, and the work on standards being done by industry groups such as The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS).
