Executive Director Michael Simpson Addresses Earth Observation Conference in Bonn, Germany

The conference, held in Bonn, Germany May 26-28, 2015, was jointly organized by UNOOSA, the German Aerospace Center, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. It was hosted by the Bonn office of the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response.

The Conference facilitated “the coordination of global efforts carried out by the space community to contribute to the implementation of the new framework for disaster-risk reduction and will provide guidance to decision-makers from the disaster management community on ways to use such Earth Observation, in combination with local, in-situ data and information, to visualize disaster-risks and to track progress in reaching the targets established in the new framework.”
