SWF Executive Director to Address Middle East Military Space Symposium

SWF ED Michael Simpson will deliver a keynote address on “Securing national space assets in outer space” to the Middle East Military Space Symposium to be held in Abu Dhabi on February 26. Two days before, he will participate in a panel session on the “Role of commercial satcom in building a joined-up architecture for modern military communications,” as part of the Military Satellite Communications Conference there.

Although Dr. Simpson’s own military experience with the US Navy included service as a Communications Department Head, his message will focus primarily on the policy implications of choices being faced by contemporary military communications specialists.

In keeping with the Foundation’s recent efforts to reach audiences that do not regularly hear its perspectives on cooperative solutions for space sustainability, both interventions will emphasize the growing importance of multilateral efforts to increase transparency and build confidence among states as they find themselves increasingly dependent on space assets to meet the needs and expectations of their populations.
