Thursday, January 23, 2014

In early January, Secure World Foundation (SWF) Executive Director Dr. Michael K. Simpson provided a week of program support to the Southern Hemisphere Summer Space Program (SHSSP) in Adelaide, Australia.

Jointly organized by the University of South Australia and the International Space University, this program places a heavy emphasis on the use of space applications to meet human needs on earth.

This year's study focus is aimed at producing a White Paper on Space and Disaster Management with particular focus on the needs of the Southern Hemisphere with its very varied conditions of economic development.

During his week on site, Dr. Simpson delivered core lectures on Space Sustainability, Economics, and Policy issues.  He also co-facilitated a workshop on space security and moderated an Astronaut Panel on the theme Astronauts Serving Earth.

Near the conclusion of Dr. Simpson's stay in Australia, SHSSP Director, Dr. Scott Madry, interviewed him on SWF and its activities.
