Brussels Space Policy Round Table: Cooperation vs. Competition in Space Activities
When: Tuesday, May 21, 2013
Where: Rue de la Science 14B, 1040 Brussels
In the past decade, the number of space faring states has been continuously increasing and there are more on the horizon that aspire to become actors in the space arena. Space activities are no longer exclusive to the big players (USA, Russia, China). A variety of countries from China to South Africa, are developing space programs. They are becoming part of the national strategies and policies of many emerging states, which strive to strengthen their international status, improve their security (e.g. defence, human and environment security), and develop socio-economic benefits (e.g. health care, education, disaster management, food security, water management).
Women in Aerospace Europe together with the Secure World Foundation would like to organise an informal panel discussion entitled “Cooperation vs. Competition in Space Activities” to examine the present actors - States and the private sector, and their relationship to one another.
The event will take place in Brussels on Tuesday, May 21st 18.00 to 20.00, at the premises of the Secure World Foundation located on Rue de la Science 14b, Brussels. It will be followed by a panel debate. A networking reception will be provided.
