Dr. Weeden Discusses Space Governance, Norms, and Autonomy at 2022 AIAA Autonomy in Space Summit

SWF Director of Program Planning Dr. Brian Weeden participated in the 2022 Autonomy in Space Summit, held on November 16, 2022, in Washington, DC. Dr. Weeden gave an invited talk with an overview of space governance and norms, with a focus on current initiatives and how they related to increasing autonomy of satellites. Dr. Weeden then participated in a panel discussion on the use of autonomy to address the increasingly crowded space domain, including for identifying and avoiding close approaches between space objects.  The panel discussed the challenges with increased autonomy and areas where additional R&D investment was needed to support future solutions.
