SWF Sponsors Space Generation Congress Working Group
SWF once more played a key role in the Space Generation Congress (SGC) by sponsoring a working group of students and young professionals to discuss "Policy Challenges Related to Nano-Satellites." SWF Project Manager Chris Johnson served as a Subject Matter Expert during the event. The SGC is the annual meeting of the Space Generation Advisory Council, and is held in conjunction with the International Astronautical Congress (IAC).

Security through Safety: Linkages between Space Security and International Initiatives for Space Sustainability at the United Nations
This year marked the inaugural combined meeting of the First and Fourth Committee of the General Assembly, during which SWF held an invitation-only reception and brief discussion. Co-hosted by UNIDIR in New York City, New York, the side event provided an opportunity for key decision makers to discuss ways to support space sustainability and resilience.

New Article on Russian Rendezvous and Proximity Operations in Space
SWF Technical Advisor Brian Weeden published an analysis of recent Russian rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) in orbit. His analysis uses publicly available information to document Russian RPO activities in low Earth orbit (LEO) and geosyncronous Earth orbit (GSO) and compare them to recent and historical Chinese and American RPO activities.

Brian Weeden published an Op-Ed, "American Leadership in Space 2.0" in SpaceNews
Mr. Weeden published an op-ed in SpaceNews arguing that the future of U.S. leadership in space will hinge upon its ability to encourage, shape, and leverage the burgeoning commercial space sector.

Summary Report from Scenario Workshop on Exploring Self-Defense in Space Now Available
Held on September 9, 2015, three hypothetical scenarios on self-defense and conflict in outer space were considered and discussed by experts from academia, international organizations, non-government organizations, and civil society. Convened by SWF and the George Washington University's Space Policy Institute (SPI), the summary of the event can be downloaded here.

During the first annual “Space for Peace” Public Outreach Event at the Israel Arts and Sciences Academy, a boarding high school for gifted students in Jerusalem, Mr. Johnson delivered remarks discussing careers in the space industry, as well as the role of non-governmental organizations and individuals play in resolving conflict.
Now in its fifth year, the 2015 SXSW Eco Conference offered representatives from the business community, investors, designers, and others an opportunity to discuss solutions that drive 'economic, environmental, and social change.' Mr. Christensen’s panel remarks highlighted ongoing trends in space commercialization and the related impact space-derived services and solutions have in our daily lives. The conference was held in Austin, Texas.

SWF Project Manager Laura Delgado López gives alumni presentation at University of Puerto Rico
A graduate of the Department of Political Science of the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras, Ms. Delgado López was invited to give the inaugural presentation of an alumni series of talks newly launched by the Department. Offered in Spanish, the talk was entitled “Space governance: The increasing relevance of space policy,” and it included a discussion about space policy issues, the work of SWF, and Ms. Delgado López' career path.

SWF Plays Key Role in 66th International Astronautical Congress
During the week of October 12, 2015, over 3,000 aerospace professionals from around the world met in Jerusalem, Israel for the 2015 IAC. Through continued support of young professionals and students, and active involvement in the IAC’s agenda, SWF once more played a key role in the conference.

Brian Weeden Participates in World Economic Forum Brainstorming Session on Global Challenges
For the fifth year, Mr. Weeden joined the session as a member of the Global Agenda Council on Space. The annual meeting brought together global experts to address the most pressing issues shaping our present and future global, industry and regional agendas. The meeting was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

SWF Staff Featured in Videos from 2015 AMOS Conference
The Maui Economic Development Board (MEDB) has published two video recordings from the 2015 Advanced Maui Optical and Space Surveillance (AMOS) Conference featuring SWF Washington Office Director Victoria Samson and SWF Technical Advisor Brian Weeden moderating panel discussions on SSA policy. The conference was held from September 16-18, 2015, in Maui, Hawaii.
